Alternate hypotheses
Here's something that made me smile.Just saw that they found a couple of buried skeletons in Italy which are hugging each other. All the archaeologists and anthropologists are going crazy thinking up romantic theories. The fact that this was 25 miles away from Verona, of the Romeo and Juliet fame, does not help. I am thinking of possibilities also.
1. They died during a wrestling match.
2. As this is from the neolithic era, chances are they weren't too fussy about burials and just threw all their skeletons together.
3. Gruesome but possible-One was throttling the other.
4. Some undertaker's idea of a joke.
The oh-so-romantic theory might be the plausible one, but how are you going to prove that the above didn't happen? One can always count on me to destroy the romance , can't one?

If those bones are really human, then
a. they are too far apart for a hug or an embrace
b. it is reported that an arrow was found in the back of one and the skull of another..they must have been obviously shot.
c. if one was burried just above the other, this might have happened
d. what if one of them was the father and the other daughter??
e. what if both were male..there ll be gay rights revolution;-)

No. that is not possible.
cos according to the book a coupla' decades after the lynching of esmeralda: when french soldiers were cleaning out the royal dungeon,among the other bones they found a pair of skeletons which were NOT hugging eachother but the larger broader one with a deformed back was hugging the smaller one. and when they tried to separate them, they both crumbled.
so there is no way that these two skeletons cud have belonged to them.
